All testing is completed to ATTMA Technical Standard 1 and CIBSE TM23
Being BINDT qualified allows us to issue certificates of compliance which will be accepted by building control without their presence as evidence that the test meets the required standards set down in the building regulations. Heathrow Commissioning strictly adheres to ATTMA TS1 and CIBSE TM23 for air permeability testing. This allows you to programme works without an external authority being present, saving time, reducing costs and ensuring that you meet the standard required by obtaining the certification required from a recognised testing facility.
Air leakage is defined as the uncontrolled flow of air through gaps or cracks in a building's fabric. Uncontrolled air leakage increases the amount of heat loss as warm air is displaced through the building envelope by the colder outside air. This uncontrolled flow creates draughts, cold spots, heat loss and condensation in the building fabric, thus resulting in higher heating costs. The government has reduced the air leakage limit to 10 m3/(h.m2)@ 50 Pa for all new dwellings in order to meet its commitment to reduce carbon emissions.
